The fundraising efforts at John J. Daly Elementary School are instrumental in achieving curriculum enrichment at all grade levels in addition to providing funding for unique, and sometimes necessary, school-wide improvements. Author visits, field trips, visiting Cultural Arts programs and Specials Week are just a few of the ongoing activities funded. At the grade level curriculum, the HSA supports the following programs:
Kindergarten- Egg-to-Chick project
1st Grade- Pet party
2nd grade -Musher Vic and study of the Alaskan Iditarod race
3rd grade- Owl Pellets, Daly Planners
4th grade- Book club, binoculars, Daly Planners
5th grade – Daly Planners, Moving-Up ceremonies and related activities
In 2008/09, the HSA supported the Organic Garden (featured in Newsday)*, the John J. Daly sign on Rockwood Avenue, the purchase of new microscopes, a camcorder and set of encyclopedias for the library and the new Teleconferencing Cart. In addition, the HSA supports full and partial scholarships to the AT LAST summer program and instrument rentals for children in need. In the 2009/10 school year, we look forward to continuing our support of these well established programs as well as beginning a new and dedicated fundraising effort for the playgrounds. We hope you will support us in all our efforts.
